Video Games Live

Jesus....  That has got to be the most epic night ever.  You have no idea what video game music sounds like until you hear it live with a full orchestra.  The whole show was amazing.  We heard everything from The 8-bit Medley, to the Legend of Zelda theme.  We also had the videogame Pianist play a Final Fantasy Medley for us.  The second half of the show was the most epic.  We start with Need for speed, and go on to the super mario Medley.  After that Martin Leung came back out to perform his blindfolded Mario theme performance.  Then we get an epic montage of the entire halo series, and the show ends.  Everyone stands up cheering for more.  Screaming and shouting.  They come running back onto the stage and declare they are going to perform One Winged Angel for us.  My mind was blown at how amazing it is.  Over rated it is NOT!!!  Hearing it live with a full orchestra, a choir AND an electric guitar was phenomenal.  We eventually close with an epic medley for Castlevania.  Sadly there was no bloody tears.  OH and the Chrono Trigger/Cross medley.  There are no words to describe it.  It was phenomenal.  The entire crowd was dead silent through the entire thing, and gave the biggest cheer of the night when it was finally done.

Overall, and amazing... No Terrific.... NO EPIC!!!  NO!!!  AMAZERRIFEPIC night.  If this show is in the same COUNTRY as you I demand you go see it if you already haven't.  Youtube cannot prepare you for this.  This was probably one of the best nights of my life at how epic it was.

Ah, yes, good times! I was fortunate enough to go to one of the first video game music concerts in North America, the "Dear Friends" Final Fantasy concert in Los Angeles in 2004. It was a good experience, although I should have sported for a better seat. Incidentally, we got an encore too--and it was also "One Winged Angel." I guess they like to go with what's tried, tested, and true. =)

I was at that show as well, Josh. Did you go to "More Friends" at Universal the next year as well? I was there, too.

You know, I don't think it was a TRUE encore though.  Because the program says they're performing OWA.  So they were just building suspense.  Would have been funny if everyone had just left not wanting an encore xD
