Dedicated to the staff of Crimson Echoes...
« on: May 12, 2009, 08:48:10 pm »
...and the near-finished game, itself. I have to say, I was really devastated when I heard the news. I had been working just the night before on a wallpaper for the prerelease festivities...and then I read the next morning that it had been shut down.

Well, Schala seemed as good a candidate as any to carry the sorrow of the Chrono community--goodness knows she's used to it--so she bids a tearful farewell to her Crimson Echo, but retains the spirit of the project and the ideals behind it.

I'm not as eloquent as some of you, so I'll stop there and let you all pay your respects or critique this or whatever...

But I would like to say that despite the unfortunate outcome, all of you who worked on the project did a real bang-up job, and I admire you.

Thanks, Katie. It's a very intense picture. Despite the outcome, it's comforting that the news is being spread around and that so many fans sympathize with us. CE is dying, but not in silence, and the Chrono community clearly and definitely lives.

The exact thing has happened to me... I was working on a wallpaper, and the next morning... C&D, I know how you feel.

I like the picture a lot, but the font is too small IMO, it's too hard to read.

CE is dying, but not in silence, and the Chrono community clearly and definitely lives.

well rom hacking was what the compendium was all about to me... and CE is declared dead, not dying, and to my knowledge, nothing is really being done about it, so it is kinda going in silence, and about half of the people/kids at gamefaqs seem almost happy to say that SE is "within their rights."

As for the compendium, this place is a grave yard now isn't it? I don't mean to offend, but the soul of this site has been taken away. The only thing left is info and fan fiction and fan art. I guess I'll be the one to say it... Maybe I'm wrong to say these things, but I'm really sad about this, before, CE was something I was excited about in the back of my mind, and now that it's been canned, it's practically all I think about. Why did it turn out like this? Why not release the game little by little, but it's too late... We're all to blame for not seeing this coming, are we not?

SE better be making a true CT sequel or they're just bullies.

I disagree. The Compendium was only revolving around CE because that was the pet project for a long time; however, when CE was shut down for a few years, the CC lasted and was doing just fine. It's more than just 'info and fan fiction and fan art,' it's what all those things mean to the people who post them and the people who read them. This site was flourishing BEFORE CE came along...it'll still be fine. THere'll always be those who'll ROM hack and come up with crazy stuff...they just won't be directly affiliated with the Compendium any more.

That makes sense, but not only did CE get canned, hacking in general is basically taboo here now.

Dang, I really wanted to experience CE...  :(

The real heart of the Compendium is story analysis and theory, not CE.

Rom hacking is one of reasons why I am here, but definitely not the biggest one.
Yeah, but I sort of agree with you, that event will blow some brilliant members away.

I always look for good stuff in the Encyclopedia, but recently I find many of them(those contain rom hacking/modification information) were deleted...
Hope some of them will be edited and restored one day. I guess we have to wait until current messes are cleared out.

Word, I came here for the ROM hacks, but I stayed for the analysis.

Oh and fantastic picture Katie, your style is very majestic.

The layout of the opening quote block of text bugs me (I think it should either be all centered or all cascading indentations), but otherwise it's cool.

I'm sad to say but the latter is more likely.

I'm gonna go ahead and say, I tried it both ways actually. It looked weird when it was centered...it made the rest of the picture look off balance.

The cascading thing looked fine, but I wanted to highlight that one line, and it didn't have the full effect being split up into two lines, that's all.

To the Encyclopedia: Dang! That's no good...I hope so, too! TO be honest, I haven't even glanced at them except to get a reference for Schala.

And thanks!
