wii wired controllers
« on: June 10, 2009, 10:35:31 pm »
Is it possible there's a wii controller than can hook up to the system instead of draining batteries and a lot of my money? I doubt a Gamecube controller even works on the menu.

Probably google search it.

Also, try rechargeable batteries. Thats what i do for my Xbox 360 wireless controller.

Really? A wired Wii Controller? Is that possible?

Anyway, in case there isn't, yes, rechargeable batteries are the best answer.

Excellent.......uhm... looks like I'll need to go scavenge for one.

At least it's only a wii controller. Wired internet being obsoleted in favor of wireless would be hell. Try playing an MMO on a wireless connection.

Console companies are totally in cahoots with battery manufacturers...Wireless controllers have been around since even the 16-Bit era (maybe further back even) and they never took off. You know why? Because it's a frivolous, unnecessary expense...So they made 'em the system standard, of course! Lame. The more stuff they cram into controllers, the more that can possibly go wrong with them. Remember NES controllers? Those things were fucking BRICKS. You could literally use them in gladiator bouts against 20 odd men, come back, plug the fuckers in and they'd STILL work...Nowadays if you drop a controller from even waist height, you cringe (if it's a friend's you know you're getting the evil eye)...

I may be blowing things out of proportion...At least about the gladiator bouts anyways...>_>

There is a Wii-remote charger that you can buy that comes with rechargeable batteries. The most you'll pay is around fifteen dollars, and the re-chargeable batteries that come with it will last a lifetime.

Like some have already mentioned, rechargeable batteries are your best bet. I guess the broad functionality of the Wii controllers make it necessary to avoid using wires and cables. I mean, with all the controller swinging and other nonsense, wires would really get in the way.

Not even rechargable batteries last forever. Eventually they lose their ability to hold a charge...and while you're right about the motion-sensing features for Wii games, I'm pretty sure all of the peripherals are also wireless...

Actually I'd say that the gladiator bit may be the truest!

In all serial-ness, controllers don't hold up anymore.  Or the machines, really.  There is a conveinence to having no wires, but draining batteries and fragile frames make it crappy.  The machines need work too.  Maybe I'm just pissed cause I have red rings right now.  Original NES needed some work (sorta random aside: it reminds me of a Kyle Cease joke about having to blow in the NES to get it to work right, but only YOU could get YOUR machine to work right...  "NO!  That's not how you do it...you have to do it like this and go side to side and play easy listening music...")

After the NES, the SNES and N64 were solid.  Then I had a PS2 and had to open the thing once to clean it.  Not shabby, but you could tell that just a LITTLE more nice-ness here and there would have made all the difference.  My 360 on the other hand sounds worse than my car.  Even before the rings.

As far a controllers go though Only Wii is really forced to be wireless because it has to be. Both PS3 and 360 have adapters (actully the PS3 uses a USB cord) so you don't need the batteries.
Although the 360 is annoying as hell, I've got 3 red flashing lights and an error message, I'm confused I thought the red ring was all 4 lights, eitherway I haven't played the thing in forever and their website is the single most useless help website in the world. But discussing the systems has nothing to do with a question about the controllers.
The Wii has to be that way, the other two have alternitives.

Console companies are totally in cahoots with battery manufacturers...
but yes this is true, but that deal is with Nintendo mostly.

No, everything you said is true including that...
Got into a fight one time me and a few friends with exactly 21 people. Some pretty tough. 6 of us. One of us(not me, stupid me!)had as a weapon to defend themselves a club. Another(still not me even stupider)an unloaded gun for whipping, the third(I feel the stupidest)had an NES controller. Why, we don't know. But of all things the only one of us to come out ok AND with weapon undamaged? The guy with the freaking NES controller (WTF?!!!!!!!!!)!

Anyways... yeah, I agree. It honestly screwed me out of Megaman 9. Literally jumped right at final Wily's height, just had to push ONE button and game beaten. Perfect timing, without any warning, controller die, I lose!

N64, Dreamcast, PS1 was the last great controllers. Then controllers took a one way trip... INTO HELL!!!!!!

The nun chuck and classic controller are connected to the remote by a wire; they don't have their own power source.

Radical_Dreamer beat me to it. I always use a Classic  Controller on the menu and whatever games support it.

And oh, the Atari 2600 had an add on wireless. A lot older than 16 bit.
