There is no way that Chrono Trigger: Crimson Echoes was 98% done!  The video walk through proved this! I seriously I think there is not enough evidence to prove CE was 98% done. It had to be like 97.5% done. No way it was 98%.



Haha, but in all seriousness, CE = greatest game never played. A true masterpiece, nearly perfect(minusing the 2%), and I feel like it was done by professionals! This game is truly remarkable and if Square Penis never gives us a Chrono 3, I wouldn't mind as much after seeing these videos. CE is more than enough to tie me over for a Chrono 3, meaning I loved this game so much, and it fits prett dern well that I consider this Chrono 3! Thank you guys on the CT CE team for CE, great job to all of you! And thank God this video walk through was made before the C&D!

Now, let's not resort to outright name calling. It's clear that SE has little respect for Chrono fandom, but when you're in a hole...

But as (possibly) the person who's spent the most time with the near finished game outside of the core CE team, I'd have to agree 100% with your sentiment about CE being truly, truly great. It's easy to nitpick about certain things, but when you stand back and look at the full picture -- this was a 28~35 hour game with enough polish to make it stand out from the crowd of RPGMaker Chrono sequels that have been tried from time to time -- you're just, like, "whoa."

 As a fan game CE blew most other games out of the water, but when compared to some of the other professional pieces out there it a little above average.

That is something that the team can still brag about, but after CE is said and done I feel it only had one flaw. Yes it was, dare I say, "near perfect" it's one flaw was a biggie though. CE doesn't do the most fantastic job of explaining the ideas of temporal law which lead too some very complex moments in the game where viewers are confused. It difficult to do though, no one want walls of expository text yet if you don't include it people think that there are plot holes when there aren't.

Fantastic piece of work but "The greatest game there never was?" Sorry to say but that award is Shenmue III's court.

I don't really think it can be called Chrono 3, as chronologically it comes between Cross and Trigger. Well, the bulk/beginning of it, anyway. Or as the Chrono Crew experienced it. Bit hard to chronologically place games about time travel.

I guess that's one of the big reasons why SE is so eager to stamp out fan games. If they were to release Chrono 3, most of their fans have already taken CE to be Chrono 3, thus the real game would have a harder time filling that role.

However, I finally got off my lazy butt and watched some CE videos, and I have to say it looks amazing. I really rather would have played it myself, but just from a spectators point of view I can tell the vast amounts of effort and time spent on it. Good show, guys.

Couldn't CE be used as filler? It could take place at the same time and go over what was not shown in Trigger and Cross. I think when dealing with chronology taking place at the same time periods has to go that way or else it would be nonsensical to anyone trying to figure out what was going on because there would be many conflicting barriers to the plot all of which that would end up in a void. It would almost be like trying to solve a jigsaw puzzle except you wouldn't have any pieces to work with.

CE takes place in 1005 AD, 605 AD, 11995 BC, and other intervals of five. Basically, events in every era happen five years after the events of CT. I don't remember the exact dates in Cross, but I think CE (at least the Present part) happens about 20 years before Cross. If you want to get technical, this would be a retconned Chrono 2, and Cross would be bumped up to Chrono 3.

At this point Duke Nukem Forever is the "Greatest Game That is Still Being Lied About" I'm pretty sure that it's still in "production" so we can't use the term "Never Was" Untill they end the lie.
