Oh man. We need to find some connection between Walter Cronkite, Michael Jackson, Farrah Fawcett, and Billy Mays.

Finally found some footage that didn't involve Walter Cronkite announcing somebody's assassination:

I just found out about this myself. He was the paragon of objective, hard news on television. He set a standard to which I hope we will aspire again someday, because today's news doesn't even begin to come close. Y'all have no clue...

Has this been confirmed by any major news sources? I know that some were warning that his deteriorating health was being exaggerated, and that he was still alive.

And on the sad possibility that this is true, we lost a great one.

Ah. I just read it on msnbc too. I plan to go into broadcasting myself, and I honestly look to him as a man who's decisions I wouldn't mind emulating.

Ah, yet again death reaches beyond what we see as possible, and strikes us unexpectedly.

But at least he lived long, and actually lived.

This hits me more than MJ did. A LOT more, and I'm 21. I never saw him on the CBS Evening News, but I understand what Walter Cronkite did for journalism today.

His words could literally shake the world. It was his condemnation of the Vietnam War that pushed LBJ out of office.

Yeah, just saw the anecdote about his impact on the Vietnam War on CNN. That's amazing.
