Doppelgang/Pip Evolution Bug?

Well, I saw that on a Japanese site, but I haven't tried it yet.

It is said that if you let Sprigg doppelgang some monster, and let Pip evolve to end the battle(not that easy to be just in time though). After that, Sprigg can't transform back to normal, and will stay as the monster's look. When you use relief charm to switch characters, you will find her portrait will be change to something random, varies from monster to monster. Sometimes the game just crashes if you doppelgang to certain monsters.

Anyone tried or heard about that?

I actually did hear about it. Never thought much of it. The chances of it happening are very slim since you don't evolve often and me personally, don't find Sprigg as interesting or good as some of the others in my party that I've already stat boosted to god like strengths (Serge, Glenn, and I have a number of others, Sprigg not one of them).

I haven't heard of it but it sounds pretty interesting, though incredibly time consuming to pull off.

Haven't heard of it...but why exactly would you want to stick her as one of them? Her main advantage is her access to nigh limitless Elements on a variety of grids. Getting stuck on one seems terribly limiting.

Hmm, i tested it and it seems at least i cant produce this bug in the US version.
Each time i let Sprigg doppelgang someone, Pip won't evolve at all, he will evolve as soon as next battle starts.
 :?
It seems the game engine knows that there will not be enough room to swap those model/equipment data and tries to avoid it.

I've tested this by using codes to force a character to undergo a Pip evolution.

Hmm, I see. So in theory it is possible.
Maybe I will try it when I get hand on the JPN version, but not recently.

BTW, did you check Sprigg's equipments and the portrait in the Relief Charm screen?

Well, so far, I've seen mostly nameless equipment.

On the teleporter/Relief charm screens, I've seen various portraits, such as young Glenn, Zippa, and Poshul.

Here's what I got when I doppelganged a Catburglar.


Entering the menu before going into another battle causes the battle model texture to be messed-up.

Cool, so the equipments are also associated with the doppelganged monster data?
Can you actually unequip them or see the values on status screen?

Hmm, I asked someone who's happening playing the JPN version to test.
And he confirmed the bug. So it seems the US version fixed it.

I'll request a save file from him later.

Oh, wait, you can recruit Zippa. Beat the game in 8 hours and start with new game+, get Karsh and Zappa in your party and keep talking to Zippa until the join option appears.

Also you can recruit the Dragon God, blahblah... if only I change Spriggan's name to something else then it'll be more trustable.

They're also both in Sprigg's place in the Member list, so you'd only be able to catch the unawares unaware...>_>
