damn man i just woke up and saw this on the news. i was gonna post a 'Ted Kennedy is Dead!' topic, in a similar vein to the other dead important people that got their own threads, like billy mays and michael jackson and whatnot.
this year has seriously sucked.

Yeah, I was gonna post this early this morning...

At least he was able to lead a long life, even if it was riddled with tragedy. Hopefully his lengthy senate career and outstanding achievements will continue to influence politics and politicians long after this day.

RIP.

He made one heck of a comeback from Chappaquiddick, that's for sure. It's sad to see that whole generation of the Kennedy family finally come to an end. The torch has been passed indeed.

I think I mostly heard of him in the past in relation to his battle with cancer. Rest in peace.

But aren't there any siblings of the Kennedy family today? I thought there were descendants. Still, he contributed a remarkable breakthrough in politics. I am expecting a nationwide broadcast for his funeral. May hey rest in peace. He fought bravely till the end.

Vice President Biden gave probably the most sincere comments I've heard thus far:

Yet another?

My, this has been a busy year for Death. Surely he will need a vacation after this!

Tis a shame. Alas, nothing lasts forever, especially not life. Let us remember these folk as they should be, with honor.

Help get the fucking health care bill passed if you want to memorialize him.

Thanks for posting that...Biden was so humble in his words that it nearly brought me to tears.

You're the one who criticized political maneuvering not too long ago, aren't you?

In any event, its been reported that President Obama, Vice President Biden, and Senators John Kerry and John McCain will be speaking at his funeral.

It is a fucking joke that you made this thread. It's the equivalent of me making a thread about the death of the Pope and telling him to "rest in peace" despite opposing his positions and the very existence of his title. Supporting health care reform would at least be a sincere eulogy rather than forum opportunism.

I still think that he shouldn't have been a senator after the Chappaquiddick fiasco. And the naming of the bill is not an honor or to memorialize him, its a sick grab at support.

Still he did pass on and I wish no more harm or ill will to his family as they mourn.
