Glenn Beck is urging his viewers/listeners to actively avoid churches that use the phrases "social justice" and/or "economic justice" as these are really code words (well, "code phrases," but when has Beck been concerned with details?) for communism and Nazism.

We all saw this coming, but it's still a rousing blow that it actually happened. Fox News can brainwash the old and the gullible all it wants; brainwashing our children is considerably more dangerous. Such changes create powerful feedback loops that are very hard to escape from. To wit, in many ways we are still carrying on today by the liberal advances of the postwar era through the 1970s. Every aspect of our progress, from the retreat of open-faced bigotry, to the free and neutral Internet, is a relic of midcentury economic liberalism and Vietnam-era civil rights activism. Imagine that process on the conservative side.

A new national Louis Harris poll finds that a majority of Republicans believe that President Obama is a Muslim, while 45 percent agree with the so-called "Birthers" that the president was "not born in the United States."

The poll of 2,230 Americans, taken during last weekend's health care showdown in the House of Representatives, shows how successful Obama's opponents have been in demonizing the 44th president.

Full results are expected tomorrow, but preliminary findings were released in The Daily Beast by John Avlon, whose book "Wingnuts" details the hyper-partisanship that has swept America since 2008.

According to the poll, 57 percent of Republicans, and 32 percent of Americans overall, believe that Barack Obama is a Muslim. The opinion comes despite Obama's description in his bestseller, "The Audacity of Hope", of his adoption of the Christian faith.

The poll found that 45 percent of Republicans, and 25 percent in the overall survey, agree with Birthers that Obama was "not born in the United States and so is not eligible to be president."

Even Fox News pundits, notably Bill O'Reilly, have dismissed the Birthers' claims. The state of Hawaii produced Obama's birth certificate during the 2008 campaign.

Another eye-opening finding: 38 percent of Republicans, and 20 percent of Americans overall, agree that Obama is "doing many things Hitler did."

And 24 percent of Republicans, and 14 percent overall, agree that Obama "may be the antiChrist."

The poll found that voters lacking a college education are much more likely to agree with more extreme myths and rumors about the 44th president.

In a more conventional opinion - echoing charges from some House Republicans during the health care reform debate - 67 percent of Republicans believe Obama is a socialist, an opinion held by 40 percent of those surveyed.

President Obama was asked about Palin's views on the new nuclear treaty with Russia.

The last I checked, Sarah Palin is not much of an expert on nuclear issues.

Cue the crazies:

Palin's view of nuclear weapons was shaped by her stint as the commander in chief of the Alaskan National Guard, our first line of defense against Soviet nuclear weapons. Obama has held his same views since he was a stoner college student and has showed no signs of maturing.

Consider for yourself all the various, distinct instances of crazy in there.

He later posted a correction:

I stand corrected. Palin does not have any experience with the AANG. ... Obama? Still utterly untrustworthy, and getting more so every day.

So magnanimous in defeat. Or was it a defeat? After Palin shot back saying that Obama's nuclear experience comes from being a community organizer, the Keyboard Courage grew strong in this one:

What dim-witted liberals cannot seem to grasp is that Obama simply isn't any more competent than Palin... or almost anyone else. Nothing in his self-promoting career gave him any leadership experience, nuclear, or otherwise.

His entire argument (if we may deign to call it that) is that Palin knows better than Obama because as Governor of Alaska from 2006 to 2009 she was in command of her state's nuclear missiles as the first line of defense against the Soviet Union. When that argument spontaneously combusted after being exposed to sunlight (who would have guessed!), Owens simply removed the argument and reiterated his conclusion. You can't do that!

Which all goes to show: I can't believe that Sarah Palin almost got within a heartbeat of the presidency. Folks like Bob Owens can't believe she didn't.

Iranian Cleric Declares that Promiscuous Females Cause Earthquakes

Hojatoleslam Kazem Sedighi, who is Tehran's acting Friday prayer leader, said:

Many women who do not dress modestly ... lead young men astray, corrupt their chastity and spread adultery in society, which (consequently) increases earthquakes.

And the promiscuity in question?

Women in the Islamic Republic are required by law to cover from head to toe, but many, especially the young, ignore some of the more strict codes and wear tight coats and scarves pulled back that show much of the hair.

Also from the article, Iranian Minister of Welfare and Social Security Sadeq Mahsooli said:

We cannot invent a system that prevents earthquakes, but God has created this system and that is to avoid sins, to pray, to seek forgiveness, pay alms and self-sacrifice.

Ok so Rush Limbaugh is an outspoken opponent of the liberal left-wing agenda. Understandable.


So when Seth MacFarland offered him a check to get him to come in and say a few lines for the Family Guy remake of Star Wars entitled Blue Harvest, he was all over it. Hell, who wouldn't be, it's more money.


My point is that when the left wing is filling the coffers, even the leader of the right-wing crazies will bow to the almighty dollar, even though they claim to be above such pursuits.

So, more Republicans are portraying themselves as wanting to eliminate most of the federal government, mount an armed revolution, and destroy other ways of life in this country. More Republicans are running political ads filled with props like guns, cowboy hats, farm animals. More Republicans believe themselves to be in communion with the Founding Fathers. And they call us the crazy ones.
