Firefox or Internet Explorer? Which ones do you use and why?

Disclaimer:   Please DO NOT use this as a VS thread!    I have lurked at other forums and anytime a VS thread pops up it usually results in an endless fight or people being sarcastic with each other and you wind up not knowing facts vs opinions. :picardno

Let's not get this thread shut down all right?

I use Internet Explorer mainly for flash/java activites as Firefox does NOT support Flash or Java I found out but it may be Vista since I haven't add any new drivers since I bought it.

When I try to use Flash or Java on FireFox after I download it it says there is in error and I can't do anything.

I like how FireFox downloads work faster and FireFox doesn't hang/crash as much as Internet Explorer.   IE acts like it's still in beta mode.     *axe falls on Triforce*   http://www.smileyhut.com/naughty/axe.gif

I've been using Google Chrome, actually. It looks very clean and runs pretty fast, at least comparable to Firefox, which was my prior browser of choice, mostly for security and tabbed browsing, which Firefox has had for a very long time, and is still is not very good in IE.

I do, however, use IE for Netflix instant viewing, and at work and school. I really don't like it. It's like they tried to integrate just about every feature the others tout, but each feature feels separate from the actual browser. It doesn't feel complete or seamless at all. Chrome, however, feels very seamless. I recommend it, because you're having trouble with Firefox. I started using Chrome for that very reason and haven't found anything I don't like yet.

EDIT: I also like the "New Tab" screen in Chrome, because it has thumbnail pictures of the eight or so (but I think the number is customizable) last websites you typed into the address bar. In fact, most of the time I open Chrome, hit new tab, and close the first one. I don't visit that many websites, so all the ones I like are all right there with no typing required.

IT'S ALL ABOUT SPEED, BABY!

I used IE8 and Firefox simultaneously just in case some sites have some IE only javascript code (mostly when at work).
I have opera installed, but rarely use it until I want to test something. Also I use virtualbox to test IE6 when necessary.

Well, most time I use firefox and too lazy to change when I get used to it.

Since I'm on Linux, IE isn't an option (well, okay, some people have managed to get it to work under WINE, but...). I use Firefox (still 2.0 at the moment, although one of these days I really need to check again to see if there's an acceptable Firefox-3-compatible replacement for my favourite extension yet, or code something up myself to replace the missing functionality) with Konqueror as a secondary. I haven't yet quite gotten up the courage to try out Chromium, the open-source version of Chrome.

(Is that enough parenthetical notes? I really need to get out of that habit.)

I was using Opera for a while. It's my favourite since it's sleek and the Speed Dial is a handy feature. Shame it randomly crashed everyday. I'm back to Firefox now, I don't mind too much but downloads tend to stop and get a "Failed" error right before finishing.

I used to use IE, but now I'm a through-and-through Firefox guy.

I use IE

I don't need that seemless transition, I have gotten used to IE and I like it.

But mostly I like how IE is just simple.

At least in the ways I use it.

I don't know where you learned that Firefox doesn't support flash or Java, because it does fully support them.  You just have to install them.

I've been using Google Chrome lately. It's pretty much as usable on Windows as Safari is on Mac OS X, so I've been very impressed so far.

I use Firefox for a number of reasons.  For one I've heard before at least that it's more secure.  Also, up until recently we had 2 computers with Lunix and Firefox was the only one we had on there at the time.  Also that's where most of my links, favorites, search engines, and stuff like that are.

Although back before we upgraded to Windows 7 from Vista I used Google Chrome occasionally when Firefox was loading about as fast as a slug.

seriously though, dude. Starting an OS thread will yield the same results as starting a Wii/PS3/XB360 thread or a "Han/Greedo shot first" thread. No exceptions.

...and yes, Firefox.
