I certainly don't remember that - is there anyone who does? But I concur: it is truly a good line. A pity that it was cut, if cut it was. So that is two, now? I wonder how much there is in the entire game of this sort. Moreover, I wonder: why did they even leave this in the script? I'm not sure how they go about making games like this, so is it just put into it at some point or another, and then they forget to delete it?

Same here. I don't think those DUMMY things are even used, but were just left in, because I think I found one comment from a programmer to another.

As I first started doing this with the Arni townspeople, lost lines and even the DUMMY stuff wasn't in sight at all. Now, as the script is getting leaner, more interesting things are popping up. I'm about to go to Fort Dragonia for the first time.

By the way, I am making an endings savestate pack as I go about this. There really should be one for Cross. It'll be compatible with ePSXe.

You know, have you put in the letters DUMMY into 'find word'? Because that could essentially give you all such disparate scenes in a very short time. I know there are likely some that are not listed as such, but it might be helpful nonetheless.

Well, I did that, and all I seemed to find so far as dialogue goes is this:

+---------------------------
|--------DUMMY START--------
|
00034 (L:00160.H:00002)
+--------------------
|It's unconscious and
|blocking the way...\Ptr\
|
00035 (L:00176.H:00003)
+----------------------
|Dwarf Chieftain:
|\Vitesse\\032\Ugh... Too strong...
|Hatred...of mankind...\Ptr\
|
00036 (L:00252.H:00004)
+-------------------------------
|Dwarf Chieftain:
|Leave this forest now, hi-ho!!!
|~~~OK, OK...
|~~~No way!\Ptr\
|
00037 (L:00248.H:00004)
+-------------------------------
|Dwarf Chieftain:
|Just looking at your ugly
|human face makes my blood boil!
|Now, leave this forest!!!\Ptr\
|
00038 (L:00196.H:00002)
+------------------------
|???:
|Stop right there, hi-ho!\Ptr\
|
00039 (L:00208.H:00004)
+--------------------------
|\Poshul\:
|PO-SHU? Could that be the
|voice of the evil dwarveth
|we were warned about?\Ptr\
|
00040 (L:00280.H:00004)
+----------------------------------
|Dwarf Chieftain:
|This forest is not a place
|for humans to roam.\Delai\\015\
|What business do you have here?\NE\
|If you are willing to turn back
|quietly, I will let you go, hi-ho!
|~~~Leave the forest
|~~~No, we're staying!\Ptr\
|
00041 (L:00276.H:00004)
+----------------------------------
|Dwarf Chieftain:
|Wise choice, hi-ho!\Delai\\015\
|We must protect this forest
|from humans at all costs, hi-ho!!!\Ptr\
|
00042 (L:00224.H:00004)
+----------------------------
|Dwarf Chieftain:
|Foolish human.\Delai\\015\
|All you had to do was
|turn around and walk away...\Ptr\
|
00043 (L:00252.H:00004)
+-------------------------------
|Dwarf Cheiftain:
|Running from a losing battle...
|That, too, is a wise choice.\Delai\\015\
|Begone from this forest, hi-ho!\Ptr\
|
00044 (L:00200.H:00001)
+-------------------------
|--------DUMMY END--------

I do find it funny, though, that 'Chieftain' is spelled wrong in the last line of dialogue.

I noticed that doing the Hydra stuff. What do you think? Part of a larger design for when you had to kill the Hydra to get the humour?

That, or perhaps simply alternate dialogue.

These lines are found with the Marbule Beach stuff that occurs after the Sky Dragon rescues you from the Dead Sea.

You alone do not have the power

And yet,

~
To heal the world's woes,

even then...

~
~
Or to solve all its mysteries.

~
~
~

I believe they're out of order. It should go,

have the power - to heal - or to solve - and yet, even then.

Anyone ever seen this?

The words sound familiar, but it may be deja vu. I can't be sure at the moment.

Nevermind. Schala uses them in the ending. Why they're stuck in Marbule Beach is anyone's guess.

Something disturbing.

Karsh:
   Because of them Porres!!!
   Whaddaya got to say to that!?

Norris:
   ......
   I, too, question the methods
   the military has taken.
   That is why I am acting in
   line with Sir Lynx...

Does this mean "Porres" is the official name for groups of people from Porre, or should we take it as Karsh slang? If it's the canon, then our Porrean usage is wrong.

I would consider it slang, personally.

I should hope so. Perhaps further into the script another word will be used by someone more liable to use formal terminology.

Lucca's items:

 [Receipt]
     Receipt for
   Goods Received
   1 - KJ830
     - Porre Navy

 [Memo]
   There is a memo lying on
   the floor here.
   It reads...
   I have created a new
   code for a new generation.
   It now replaces the old
   one my father once used...
   Circle stands for '"O"'
   Square stands for '"D"'
   Triangle stands for '"A"'
   Cross stands for '"X"'
   Using this, for example,
   the children will never
   guess '"ROAD"' is spelt...
   R-Circle-Triangle-Square
   My father, Taban, would
   be proud. Not to mention
   my mother, of course...
   ~~~~~~~~~~ LUCCA
 [Memo]
   There is a memo lying
   on the floor here.
   It reads...
   One month... One day...
   I failed! I was so close
   to stabilizing the time
   axis too...
   There is a memo lying
   on the floor here.
   It reads...
   Don't you children
   ever touch my
   '"Space Capsule!"'
   A beautiful view of the
   expanses of...space!?
She was almost assuredly working on time travel.
I doubt more than a handful of people have tried showing Lucca the Time Egg or Astral Amulet. But Lucca does define the meaning of the phrase Chrono Trigger when you do:
 [Lucca]
   The Time Egg...
   The ancient sage, Gasper,
   once called it the Chrono
   Trigger, you know!?
   Each of us allows our
   feelings to be a trigger...
   Letting them loose changes
   our world, time, and history!
I'm also adding to the Magus entry that Kid echoes his most famous lines:
Kid:
If the world's gonna
be destroyed, then let
it be destroyed!
If history is gonna be
changed, then let it
bloody well be changed!
I'll show you what
Radical Dreamers
really dream about!
What the Radical Dreamers really dream about? That's powerful stuff.
Final push! I'll do twenty lines at a time. Help me find these!
Remember, the priority is on WHEN these lines take place. However, a good deal of them might also be questions of who speaks them. Anyway, recognition works ten times better than recall, so have at it! I'll be providing them in batches of twenty. Let's start with these.
1.
"This is the place"
Found in Earth Dragon Isle
2.
I can't hear the
dragon's cry anymore.
Another one...gone...
I heard the Black
Dragon's cry.
Is it really awake?
3.
Witch Doctor:
......
Hmmm, interesting.
So you say your
true self is human?
I can't do anything
about your curse.
Away with you, human.
4.
Black Dragon:
......
00005 (L:00272.H:00001)
+----------------------------------
The Black Dragon remains asleep...
00006 (L:00176.H:00002)
+-------------------
Membre000 received the
004Black Relic000.
5.
Hi, just passin' through?
You should rest up a bit.
00038 (L:00188.H:00002)
+-----------------------
If you're with a human,
GET OUT!!!
6.
The Great Explorer Toma:
So, did you see Captain
Fargo on the Zelbess?
Was he up to his old tricks
again? He never quits.
Well, it's gettin' late and
I don't want to keep you.
So let's hit the sack, shall we?
00027 (L:00168.H:00003)
+---------------------
Ash:
I have a baaaaaad
feeling about this...
7.
Shoo!
Get outta here!
(I think this was intended for when you're a cat, but I couldn't get any tourists to trigger it.)
8.
Hey! You're my ultimate
rival, Miki!
Listen, YOU!
You stay away from
my Nikki, or you'll
be sorry!
(I know who should say this, but isn't the deck of the Zelbess cleared out as soon as the concert's over?)
9.
Nikki:
That was a rockin' jam session!
It'd be great if we could
tour together some time!
00011 (L:00080.H:00002)
+--------
Nikki:
Yeah...!
00012 (L:00176.H:00003)
+----------------------
Nikki:
......!?
Another me...?
Hey, I'd love to jam
with you some time...!
How 'bout it!?
00013 (L:00220.H:00004)
+---------------------------
Nikki:
Sure, that'd be great...!
You know our mother's song,
right? Teach it to me?
00014 (L:00112.H:00002)
+--------------
Nikki:
Sure thing...!
00015 (L:00200.H:00003)
+-------------------------
Nikki:
What...
beautiful music...!!!
It sends chills down
my spine just playing it!
00016 (L:00168.H:00002)
+---------------------
Nikki:
I knew you'd like it!
00017 (L:00272.H:00003)
+-------------------------------
Nikki learned
003Item000
from a jam session with Nikki!
00032 (L:00168.H:00004)
+---------------------
Kid:
......?
Where the bloody hell
is Nikki?
I wanted to ask him
somethin'...
00033 (L:00136.H:00004)
+-----------------
Kid:
I'm gonna go look
for him...
Wait here.
(I need the specifics of when this occurs. The Kid dialogue is interesting...)
9.
Do the gamblers even come back after you lose Norris's boat? I kept going back to the casino but they weren't there, and neither were they there as cats. They have a whole bunch of lines after you supposedly defeat him.
10.
When is the absolute last point you can do the SS Zelbess concert?
11.
So, what'd you think?
00001 (L:00.H:00001)
+------------
Be my guest.
00002 (L:00.H:00003)
+------------------------
Now that the captain's
gone, what are we
supposed to do?
Maybe we should lend our
hands to the restoration
of Marbule...?
00003 (L:00248.H:00003)
+-------------------------------
Damn demi-humans...!
They got away, right
under our noses!
We have to do somethin'
before the captain finds out...
11.
It's rusted and won't open...
12.
Your body seems to be
brimming with energy!
(this is somewhere in Fort Dragonia, I think...)
13.
The Kid question with Nikki above -- I just found it, and it rules. But where does it take place? It's why he named his band Magical Dreamers.
14.
Not enough power...
The ice is in the way...
(There are a ton of these!)
15.
This was a while back, but I
did a bad thing to another bunch
like you, who just happened to
be visiting the island at the time.
00012 (L:00284.H:00003)
+-----------------------------------
Even though I did it to save my
own sanity, it was a major mistake.
I feel really bad about it...
00013 (L:00216.H:00003)
+---------------------------
I just want to apologize.
...I wonder if they'll ever
come back here again?
(When do these show)
16.
Fargo:
Listen up.
I've explained yer
situation to me men.
Don't worry. They're all
very understandin'.
Oh, and the ones who ran
off are back onboard.
Pay them a visit when
you get a chance.
00002 (L:00184.H:00003)
+-----------------------
Fargo:
Ahoy, mateys!
Make yerselves at home.
00003 (L:00288.H:00003)
+------------------------------------
Fargo:
I've got a bad feelin' 'bout this...
Let's just get it over with.
17.
Karsh:
Man... I feel relieved...
Actually... No...!
Forget it!
18.
Riddel Groupie:
Damn!
I-I-I can't get close to her.
19.
 Terra Tower
- Final Form -
(Does this...ever appear on the World Map?)
20.
Member:
   Those who don't learn
   the first time are bound to
   repeat the same mistake!
Member:
   We should get
   going before this
   thing wakes up.
(With Pentapus. I couldn't get them to activate though)
