it was definiately eaither Lavos or the Entity that created the Gates. Some say Lavos because of his influence on time. Others (including me) say that it was the Entity/Planet.

I think only a couple were made by Lavos (He does transcend time during the LC battle), but most of them were made by the Planet. In fact, the only one that there's a chance that Lavos made was in fact the one in the Tyran Ruins, and even that isn't so sure.

if we say that Lavos made the first Gate at 1000 AD, then Lavos would be only commiting suicide.

Maybe Lavos did it by accident, you can't know...

even if Lavos did do it by accident, im pretty sure he would notice it and erase it. Im guessing he didnt though, considering it was there throughout the whole game.

In fact, no one says he was intellegent enough to notice that in CT. The only time we knoe he's intellegent for sure is in CC.

About the intelligence, it really does depend. Remember, we are talking about the being inside of Lavos (Lavos Core) here. If these 'Lavoids' are truly a space-race that is bent on destruction of the entire universe, i bet there is intelligence out there within them. Thought, the Lavos we know maybe more intelligent then others. Because of the Frozen Flame effecting the humans brain capacity, when Lavos stole there DNA, he must have been made almost supremely intelligent, that combined with the Reptites DNA.

No, Lavoids aren't bent on destroying the universe. I think all of the things in saying: "Lavos is the ruler and destroyer of the Planet" in 2300 AD are not true. Lavoids are a race that require DNA and energy to survive. The best source of such resources are planets. He erupts in 1999 AD, that's just a really big yawn. He sits on Death Peak, making his spawn, so people think he's like sitting on his throne of doom.

At least when Lavos crashed, he wasn't intellegent and was just an hungry animal. What happaned after all that, I guess Lavos can become a evil genius. Hadriel actually made a huge thread about this at Chronicles, that "Lavos the Dark Lord" monster of a thread. Anyways, he's definetly smart in CC: He's got both Schala and the Dragon God as sources of intellect. He then used the Flame to create another Arbiter, and the rest is history.

I must go over to Chronicles and read that thread. It'll give me an insight into Lavos and that, since I am really interested in the whole Lavoids and that thing. And another thing: You know the machine inside Lavos you have to destroy first? Maybe LC (Lavos Core, not Lordchander  :D ) actually CREATED that thing to shield himself after he aquired the DNA and the intellect to be able to do that. He probably also created it so that in 1999 AD he could be protected if and only if an attack was launched against him (nuclear missiles from the government or watever). Though Crono and gang were to powerful for him and destroyed it.

Lavos creating the gates doesn't make sense because of the entire theory of the Entity and all of the meaning taken out of the 400 Year Reuinion. It's all about how Lavos ISN'T responsible for the gates...The only ones that Lavos made were those that whipped the Gurus and Janus around...and possibly the large gate that flings Crono & Co to 65,000,000BC and Magus back to Zeal after that first Magus fight in his castle...But that one depends on how you think that gate occurred...

I always thought the giant Gate in Magus Castle was the result of Lavos' energy and Magus' energy. And its not really a Gate, considering four people were thrown into it and they didnt go to the EoT, and Magus was sent to 12000 BC while the others were sent to 65 mil. You cant go to 2 different places in one Gate (correct me if im wrong though).

Yeah, that's why that gate's so whakky though...it's unusually large and it sends people in different directions in time...

So maybe its not a Gate at all...maybe it was just something the Entity created to keep things flowing and not letting Crono and gang get thrown to 65 mil. with Magus.

No, it would send them to the End of Time w/Magus if it had worked like an ordinary gate...I figured it was Lavos because he was pissed at Magus for effing w/him and maybe the Entity stepped in so that Lavos didn't eff w/Crono & Co...I mean, for all we know, Lavos creates that gate in the original timeline and sends Magus to who-knows-where...
