The "now-lost" posts I referred to are from 2 years ago. Back then, I got part of it from Google's cache, but not much. Here's a snippet regarding accents.

Quote from: Gemini
Some characters did have accents, but they were nothing too big or extravagant. Still, that didn't stop Square from going stupid and making up accents for characters like Salton (aka Solt), who just used to talk like a regular soldier adding "dearimasu" at the end of most sentences, but they had to replace it with that annoying "shake it". At least they did a good job with Poshul, who sounds very close to the original, speech impediment included.
I'm not arguing for a retranslation at the moment. I don't know how accurate Gemini's complaints are. Just posting what I've heard about Chrono Cross in Japanese.

Wait wait wait wait wait

...Kato only helped with the ending, where they added the clone child part...

...many people consider all these changes as part of the "extended" script which Kato provided for the US version (namely the part about Kid being a c***e of Sara)...

Quote
...when I told Kato-san, the scenario writer of Chrono Cross, that I found contradictions in his story, he sat down with me and helped me rewrite sections to make better sense in English, and implemented them into the game...

So Kid wasn't a clone of Schala in the Japanese version? Chrono Cross was somehow MORE confusing in the original? Is that what I'm reading here?

I know we have some other things that want translating but I think there's a lot of stuff here that needs clearing up. You can't expect to get much from a creator interview without understanding their original work.

Yeah, the best example is the Dragon God lines I posted before, in the original "consumed by Time Devourer" is not mentioned directly. Another example is Sneff's lines about an old troll who gave him a fruit, which is not mentioned in the original script.

Link? Maybe if not a full text-dump and retranslation, can we (well... you mostly) get together a Translation Differences article together, like with Radical Dreamers?

"In the original Chrono Cross, the second red moon was revealed to be a space ship that harbored another Lavos that followed a different evolutionary path, but this was cut from the American release due to space constraints. This is why the Dragon God, actually the new Lavos, appears unfinished in battle: he's actually severely glitched."
