I can actually relate it to many Anime.  It's just random hair colors that fit in with the Anime natures, more young anime like Pokemon, hair colors are just assorted, but in more mature anime, like Cowboy Bebop, Hair Colors are more dark, but still assorted.

Zealians dying their hair is no more than rumor. Plus, if it were true, Schala's hair color would remain the same because no time actually passed from when she fused w/Lavos because they were in the DBT or w/e.

The color of her hair drains simply because her power is being drained.

Serge is from El-Nido, and El-Nido is from the future. I'm sure that in the far future they found away to somehow permanently change hair color, and pass it on to the child (Wazuki and Serge).

Belthasar was insane. Crazy. No longer seeing things normally. He probably had voices in his head and one of them was Schala's. Schala was not there. Crono isn't related to Schala. What Belthasar said was complete bull. IGNORE HIM! HE'S CRAZY, GOD DAMNIT!

Actually, I believe there are less blue-haired Zealians than brown-haired Zealians. I might not remember well, but I recall that only the Zealian women had blue hair, Janus being the exception. All the men are either brown-haired (or blonde, it's hard to tell with the sprites) or white-haired. Dalton and the Gurus also aren't blue-haired.

Might be a Queen Zeal's line only thing, or maybe Royalty can only change their colour blue (magic). Or maybe the others just dont want to do it.

Seriously, no one changes their hair color in the game. No one. There has been absolutely NO proof of this. I hold that the Compendium has more or less debunked it really...

Also though, we don't know what the Guru's real hair color could be, right? Since when we see them they all just have gray hair...Which could be their natural color...But is probably just cause they're old...

Note that on the other hand, all the Larubans men and women (whether they're the Zealians' ancestors or not) had pink hair.

Then we can conclude that the whole Zeal hair dying thing is bull crap.
Now I'm starting to think that Queen Zeal's line had blue hair by genetics. Maybe what happened was that the Blonde hair of Schala is to represent it being bleached or staken of colour by Lavos. She does look pale, almost dead. It's as if Lavos has drained her life. So this can show why she has blonde hair, it looks bleached anyway.

because she was cloned when Schala was blonde!

Also, note that Schala had green eyes in CT but blue eyes in CC, so the discrepancy just can't be due to a simple dye. And there's also the most obvious difference, her dress...

The dress itself might of been dyed, meaning the dye could of melted off too, leaving a white dress. Even if lack of power did make her hair blonde, I doubt it would go as far as completly changing her genetic makeup.

As for the eyes... Magic, perhaps? Maybe something like Mako eyes in FF7, except constant loss of magic and energy made her eye-color revert to it's original color?

I agree on that, I saw once somewhere someone complaining about CC he said many argument to prove his point that CC didn't deserve the fate of CT's sequel and he mentionned that Schala's hair were Blue not Blonde and that argument popped up that the Zealian liked to dye their hair color blue so they won't look like earthbound but it was only in the japanese version and was told by a NPC, like the Schala/Janus step brother thing

Yes, Janus was in fact her blood brother. That was a translation error, as we all know. CC's plot is confusing, but still, it quiet deserves to be CT's sequel. The theme and plot do meld into CT's, in the end.

Lavos is able to collect genetic data and change his genetic makeup, and Schala is part of Lavos at this point so...
