Well I saw a CC hate page I was laughing so hard the guy hated os much CC he had (well I saw) a full window minimum of argument trying to prove hsi point that in fact CHrono Cross isn't a sequel at all!

he had a quote (real one?) from some a japanese (well I think he must had work on CC) and the quote was something ;like this

Hey I jsut saw that new battle system that didn,t use Random encounter, is it only me or CT encounter was the best ever and CC was WAY behind that?

CT was the most realistic, all with running into foes, drawing weapons and whatnot. CC's, on the other hand, though it did have a battle screen, was somewhat more to my liking: No filling bars, no MP. Though I would of liked more techs, that's my sole complaint.

Here what I liked more in each game on the Battle system

CT:
-No map blurring then enter a battle
-single, double, triple tech (more than CC I saw one double in CC)
-You were not locked for a Leader Character (befor new game +)
-Time bars

CC:
-You need to actually think while fighting
-Mid-health change animation, like Final Fantasy Mystical Quest
-3 attack force

I actually like more the time bar maybe a mix between time bar and 3 attack force would be nice in a futur game

well actually CC had one it was just hidden because you could have like 5.6 stamina and that 0.6 was useless so they had one but just hidden

I can't say I understood what you meant. How can a turn based battle system have a time bar hidden in it? If your stamina is 0.6 you can't do anything, there's no time bar involved.

Why would a turn based Combat system have a 0.6 if you can't use it?

easy because it's not turn based. You have stats and each sec would be multiply by some number generated by this stats.

Example : You have agility : 23. it takes 23 multiply it by 0.05 and that's the stamina you get for one sec (1.15 sta), you don't see the time bar because you can't attack in the middle of it so it's not really a time bar but it use a kind of time bar since you can't go over 7 sta

The thing about Janus being Schala's step-brother was because Zealians imply that Zeal might have had him w/someone else and that's why he wasn't a sprouting magic user like his sister...

I always thought that Janus was Schala's step-brother. And about battle systems, Chrono Trigger is much better, literally.  Chrono Cross just killed the battle systems trying to be like Final Fantasy, minus the good features.

CC's battle system was just a mockery really...They just jammed as much crap from older systems into it as they could. It's like the n00b battle system as far as I see it...If anything...You DON'T have to think...Those pretty lights and lens flares are just distraction really...

It might as well just have been on auto or permanent berserk spell because it just sucked that much.  Which is why I hate playing Chrono Cross.  It's a great game, but the battle system made it lose some serious points.

Yeah, it's especially boring in NewGame+...I have to force myself to (sort of) even the odds by equipping the bone weapons and not equipping accessories...

I just replayed a bit of CC and I see that that you don't have to think, I always tried to use the counter spell and all but a lvl 2 fire spell on a water innate will do less damage then a lvl 3 water atatck -_- I'm sorry and I agree CT has the better combat system of all the games I played

Yeah, I dunno if I'd say CT had anything special outside of the combination attacks...Everything else was pretty straight-forward & average RPG stuff.

I mean, if you really want to think about your battles, and want strategy, you have to go w/an SRPG ala my own fav Final Fantasy Tactics.

I didn't play many more RPG like CT, but there two things out of the comabt system that I never saw.

1-You never zoom in/fade in/blur in a battle which is so perfect
2- are style attack, like Falcon Hit, Cyclone, Area Bomb
