Lol, Queen Zeal would then have a very low rank. I doubt she's ever slept since her husband died or since she tried harnessing the power of Lavos Oo. Think about all the nightmares.

You really think a... ~tries not saying the B word~... Woman like her actually cares enough to lose sleep over a dead husband or two?

The game states that the loss of her husband was the reason she began to care about Lavos and the Mammon Machine... She might have began to fear death, so the MM was a pretty interesting hope for her.

I meant about the husband himself, not the fact he died.

I doubt she wasn't the one who organized his death, herself. She probably formed a link with Lavos through the Frozen Flame.

There never was any frozen flame in CT. The whole FF and Mammon Machine thing is still unknown. The Ultima guide says it is, but it can't be trusted much.

Remember, the Guru's built the machine, but most likely for other reasons that immortality. I do quite honestly believe that Queen Zeal was a good mother, till her husband died. Also, Janus does say saomething like she was always a loving person, but then changed. So thats why Janus hated the evil force, until he found out it was Lavos etc.

How can you be so sure the FF wasn't in CT? You have just as much evidence to back that up as I have to back up mine.

The Guru's built the Machine to harvest Lavos' energy. How are they to discover Lavos even existed?

You're right in saying Janus rememeberd a loving mother, but still, that dosen't mean she turned evil straight after the king died. Maybe a bit earlier, and then she organized his death to get complete power over the earth.

It certainly has! Think this: the first quote could simply mean that because peace reigns in the Kingdom of Zeal, they can just sleep there soon-to-be-immortal (or so they think) lives away happily.

Second quote can mean that the Zealians find the 'truth' about life and stuff within their dreams. And herbal tea and crystals means they like to find out the future (phycics). I bet not one of them saw what Crono had in store for them. But this whole thing requires that they dream in the first place AND remember them.

The Herbal Tea thing means he just wants herbal tea at the moment, but can't, because he's sleeping. Plus, some Herbal tea helps you fall asleep faster. So maybe he had some Herbal tea to fall, and can still remember the flavour, thus he's dreaming about it?

Dreams are based off of your realities and desires, so they saw a future in which their wish is granted and they become immortal. It's quite sad, really.

yeah, i mean, its the queens fault altogether, if she hadnt started the whole plan to join with Lavos and stuff, the Kingdom of Zeal could have lived forever (until 1999 of course, but they still get thousands of years though)

Yes, the problem is that she's godamn greedy. She rules the friggin world, then she wants to live forever, what's next, renaming yourself to Darth Sidious and drawing Anakin to the Dark Side so she can rule the galaxy?!

Please, living forever is absurd! Be happy your children can rule the world after you, they were born from you, you know!

He did decieve an entire galaxy, so he needed an alias. I guess Sidious came from his Sith origins?

Hey, it's Lavos' fault for corrupting her, and her fault for getting closer to Lavos. Serves her right, I guess.

Don't think so... Sith are just Dark Force users... Maybe the name of an ancient Sith Lord? He was the Apprentice of that Sith Lord who could make life...

Wasn't the Mammon Machine a fountain of Eternal youth that never succeeded.  The Energy it produced waas massive (or mammon-like) and could be used for just about anything, from household cleaning machines, to powering the queen's throne type of things.
