question about original timeline Zeal

Well, its not a big jump of logic to say he died.

-Lavos beat him down in Zeal, when Crono died.
-Magus was interupted by Crono when trying to summon him
-Nothing suggests that his spell would have still failed had Crono not interfered.
-Before Lavos showed up, Magus was not present in any timeline other than 600 in the war, and as Janus in 12,000bc.

-I never argued that
-I never argued that
-Nothing suggest that his spell would have work perfectly, if Crono and co. wouldn't have interfered
-Remember that nothing happens in Chrono Trigger before it actually happened, so since Magus hadn't already passed through any gate he wouldn't been in any other time era

Magus got to 65,000,000,000 BC hit his head and lost his memory, with time his hair returned to their original blonde color or something and was later called Kino

Speaking with little memory of the events (i need to play CT again, hehehe)... weren't there a bad ending when you are defeated by Magus, where Magus succesfully summons Lavos?

Well, I didn't mean that you did argue that, just that those are the reasons why I think its not a hude jump of logic to say Magus died agianst Lavos in 600ad.

And about your 4th point:  Magus originally summoned Lavos in 600ad, before Crono started his quest.  If he was thrown into a gate in this original timeline, before Crono started his quest, then by the time Crono started his time traveling, Magus WOULD all ready be in some other timeline.

o_O  Wait a minute, you might be on to something...  I know you were just playing around saying that, but actually the ending you're referring to occurs (I think) if you defeat Lavos after obtaining the Masamune for Frog, but BEFORE defeating Magus in his castle...you'd go to the End of Time and then jump to 1999 AD.  And I'm wanting to say the ending in that one shows Magus preparing to fight Lavos...  And I THINK that it shows him going through the Ocean Palace to get to Lavos.  So this could mean Magus DOES get thrown back to 12000 BC without Crono's interference.  Of course here we know that he gets killed by Lavos since Lavos still exists in 1999 for Crono to kill.  Interesting!

EDIT: Nevermind, there goes that one.  You get this ending by defeating Lavos right after defeating Azala at the Tyrano Lair.  So this is after you've messed up Magus' plans.  Sorry.

Ya you're right I got confused somehow, but that wouldn't mean that you'll see him anyway.

I think that Magus died actually but the is not enough proof to be certainly sure he died that was what I wanted to point out
