Enhasa & Kajar

Enlightened Metropolis

Full Names: Enhasa and Kajar

Symbolic Identities: Sodom and Gomorrah

Enhasa and Kajar, the two major cities of the mighty Zeal Empire, are quite representative of Sodom and Gomorrah, two Biblical cities that were supposedly destroyed by God for their sinful ways. The following parallel was brought to my attention by MegaJake. The concept of the two cities being similar to Sodom and Gomorrah are his ideas. The "sleeping" concept was added later by myself, Xathael.
In the Bible, Sodom and Gomorrah are two cities that are teeming to the brim with sinful way--one of the most infamous being hedonistic sexual practices without discretion. Eventually, God chose to destroy these cities for their sins by basically blasting them off the face of the planet. Similarly, Enhasa and Kajar are two cities that are part of the Zeal Empire, which is characterized by sin, greed, lust for power, and corruption. Quite interestingly, in Enhasa and Kajar, the citizens talk about how they all "sleep" all day long. Now, this may be a bit of a longshot, but the term "sleeping" is often held synonymous with sex (sleeping around, sleeping together, etc.). Therefore, this might just be suggesting a parallel to Sodom and Gomorrah's hedonistic sexual practices. Just as Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed for their sins, Enhasa and Kajar are both eventually blasted out of the sky and utterly destroyed as a result of Queen Zeal's endless sins.
It has been brought to my attention by Michael (Mad_MarchHare@Yahoo.com) that there exists a Biblical line from Ezekiel that offers a much more literal interpretation of Enhasa and Kajar's parallels to Sodom and Gomorrah than the aforementioned "sleeping/sex" suggestion of mine. Credit goes to him for the discovering the following parallel:

Ezekiel, 16:49: Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fullness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy.

  • Pride: Interpreted as the constant air of superiority exhibited by the Enlightened Ones over the Earthbound Ones, and the further manifestation of that pride in making their home, Zeal, float high in the sky above the "lowly Earthbound Ones".
  • Fullness of bread: Enhasa and Kajar are definitely wealthy, prosperous cities, where the people are pampered to no end.
  • Abundance of idleness: The fact that the people of Enhasa and Kajar sleep all day, all night, with no real duties other than dreaming and daydreaming.
  • Not helping the poor and needy: The fact that Enhasa and Kajar officially sent nobody down to help the poor, starving Earthbound Ones. The only people from Zeal who lifted a finger to help the Earthbound Ones, Schala and Melchior, had to do so in secret.
