RMH: For example, when I told Kato-san, the scenario writer of Chrono Cross, that I found contradictions in his story, he sat down with me and helped me rewrite sections to make better sense in English, and implemented them into the game with extra text windows for me.
How do you deal with jokes and word plays that depend play on the specific original word sounds e.g. puns? Do you have any examples?
RMH: You’re asking the wrong person here. I can’t resist adding puns and wordplay into my titles, even when they weren’t originally there. My policy is ‘Assonance! Assonance! Assonance! …And a little alliteration!’ So I’ve never had problems coming up with sick jokes (or attempts at such) to replace the Japanese jokes.
