The Prerelease features several alternate tracks, some rough mixes of finals. They are named according to the Chrono Trigger Soundtrack. All were found and ripped via ROM hacking and ZSNES. Track 040 was meant to be used in the Tyrano Lair, but Nobuo Uematsu created Tyran Castle for the level after Mitsuda was hospitalized for an ulcer. Track 040 is now considered the prototype to Boss Battle 2, since it plays at the fight with Masa & Mune. Battle 2, unused in the final, appeared during the Cyrus / Frog King flashback. The use of the other demo songs is generally obvious, except for 014 - Untitled, whose purpose is totally unknown. The Compendium's rip is totally complete except for an accelerating version of "Lavos Heartbeat and Grunt". When Temporal Flux can edit the Prerelease, this song will become possible.
