− | This chapter features Guru Melchior's investigation of the horrific experiments left behind on Guru Bekkler's sky island laboratory, the results of creation fiber experiments gone very wrong. The results are a variety of monstrosities, including some intelligent beings that are the forerunners of modern Mystic tribes. Schala is present when some of monsters of lesser intelligence break free from their restraining beakers and go haywire, and she and Dalton get to liquidate them together. Queen Zeal is also present, and she and Dalton chide the security force on guard for allowing members of the royal family and Melchior's team of scientists into the laboratory when it was hardly rendered safe as reported.

− | Melchior demands the destruction of every monstrosity in the room, noting that they all seem to suffer horribly. Dalton breaks a beaker containing the first Mystic, who awakens at Queen Zeal's feet and seems awe-inspired by her. Schala brings attention to the being's human qualities and pleads for Dalton to spare it. An innocuous Assistant Beck, apparently a new member of Melchior's Life Sciences team, steps forward and backs her up, noting the potential military application of these "corruptions." Dalton is interested and Melchior wonders when the heck Assistant Beck joined Zeal's Life Sciences department. It's as if Beck came out of nowhere...
