Garai is the 13th Grandmaster of the Acacia Dragoons, a formidable fighter and father of Dario. While the details of his early life are unclear, he eventually found employ with the organization within Viper Manor, becoming a fierce warrior abroad. He wielded two swords, and his gigantic stature made him nearly invincible. He soon became the leader of the Acacia Dragoons, and was given the Einlanzer to wield; he tore up the battlefield with Radius and Zappa. He also fathered Dario and Glenn, who strove to follow in his tradition. Radius and Garai were sparring mates and frequently practiced on one another; however, on one mission, the duo successfully located the demonic Masamune. Garai cautioned Radius about taking it, but Radius insisted it was all right; he subequently stabbed Garai in the back in a fit of rage. The immediate disruption of Garai's dreams and life caused his spirit to violently remain distinct; though he was buried at the Isle of the Damned, which was pristine and beautiful, the isle soon became full of death, putrid waters and ruinous monsters. These stemmed from his bad sentiments. Garai remained sleeping until Radius and Serge sought to retrieve the Einlanzer from his grave; Garai sprang to life, and challenged them. Once defeated, he allowed them to take the sword; Radius apologetically uttered a few words to the deceased warrior thereafter. Steena later visited his grave, and "fell heir" to his dreams. Even then, his dreams continued to radiate in the form of a sweeping vista behind his grave, full of flowered fields and floating petals.
Part of Garai's menace was instilled within the Masamune, however; a form of his ghost appeared when Dario reawakened to the Masamune and tried to murder Riddel. His negative sentiment was finally purged when Masa & Mune reawoke.
