The man is not Magus. One frame of the cutscene shows blood shooting out from the fallen defender. The spray of blood meets the attacker's upheld sword, making the weapon and blood appear to be a long scythe. However, it is obviously apparent from other frames that he is not wielding a scythe. Magus would also totally lack motivation to participate in the Fall of Guardia.

Inquiry

In the cut scene depicting the Fall of Guardia, a long-haired man is shown killing the last defender of Guardia and stealing the Masamune. Who is this man? Aside from a simple soldier, who else might he be?

Theories

Dalton

In line with the Rise of Porre article, this man may be Dalton, shunted to the present by the Gate atop the Blackbird.

Time Traveler

Masato Kato, in the GamePro interview, suggested that the Fall of Guardia was precipitated by Porre with help from outside the normal flow of time. This man may be a time traveler.

Misconception

The man is not Magus. One frame of the cutscene shows blood shooting out from the fallen defender. The spray of blood meets the attacker's upheld sword, making the weapon and blood appear to be a long scythe. However, it is obviously apparent from other frames that he is not wielding a scythe. Magus would also totally lack motivation to participate in the Fall of Guardia.
