Algetty is the formal name for the city of the Earthbound people, consisting of several dugouts and caves within the system known as Terra Cave. It was presumably established after the Ice Age came about from Lavos, as the inner spaces of the planet would, although cool in temperature, be resistant to the raging weather outside. Quality of life is seemingly low, as the caves are the only refuge and have walls made of rock and dirt. Janus famously confirmed this by calling the establishment a filthy hovel. The Earthbound did briefly venture out of the caves at times, seen in the bystanders who watched the tsunami erupt from Mt. Woe's descent into the ocean. In terms of leadership, Algetty is fostered by an elder apparently selected by merit, age, and wisdom. During the events of 12000 B.C., Algetty was led by a docile old man who welcomed visits from Schala and remained humble to all visitors. A constant among all the Earthbound was fear of the Beast's Nest, an area leading to Mt. Woe adjacent to Algetty which housed fearsome beasts. Earthbound had other fears, as Dalton or other foremans of the Ocean Palace project selected slave labor from their citizenry -- and these laborers were never seen again.
It is unknown whether Algetty was a tidier and more enlightened place before the Enlightened Ones split off from their brothers; regardless, it was abandoned after the Fall of Zeal. Together with survivors of the fall, the people of Algetty established a village topside called Last Village. The elder continued to wisely watch over his people, though one setback occurred when Dalton claimed his own right to rule over the people of the dwelling. He was foiled by Crono's friends atop the Blackbird. Algetty's legacy remains one of ensuring life's survival through the darkest chapter of humanity in the series.
