Ayla's origins are unknown, though she may be an ancestor of [[Leah]]. Ayla assumed the title of Chief of [[Ioka Village]], as she was the strongest warrior in the tribe. Her people have been battling the [[Reptites]] for supremacy, so whenever she sees one, her first instinct is to fight them. Because of this, when she sees [[Crono]] and his party assaulted by the reptilian beings at the foot of the [[Mystic Mountain]], Ayla immediately acts to drive them all away. Then, when Crono and his friends join the fray, Ayla is mightily impressed by their strength, and invites them to feast with her tribe to celebrate their victory. A warrior of her tribe, [[Kino]], does not understand why his Chief would throw a feast for outsiders, and so when the celebration ends and the party is asleep, he steals their [[Gate Key]] and runs for the [[Forest Maze]]. Ayla's nobility prompts her to aid Crono in recovering the Key, but when they reach the Maze and corner him, Kino admits that he only took it out of jealousy, that he loves Ayla and was worried that she would choose Crono over him unless Kino did something. Once Ayla hits him over the head (literally) with the fact that she loves him, not Crono, he apologizes, but admits that the Key was stolen by [[Azala]] and the Reptites.

Ayla helps Crono's group by giving them the [[Dreamstone]], which is necessary to forge the [[Masamune]]. Later, when the [[Laruba Village]] is attacked on Crono's second return to her era, she agrees to join Crono's party permanently. Ayla can always be trusted to take the most complicated of ideas and put them in the simplest possible terms; she has a limited vocabulary, but is highly intelligent for a cavewoman. She cannot use magic; the explanation given by [[Spekkio]] is that magic did not exist in her time. Chrono Cross suggests that one might interpret Spekkio's message to mean that her species has not been evolved through the [[Frozen Flame]] and [[Lavos]] yet due to contact in [[3,000,000 B.C.]], and she thusly does not possess the biological capacity for magic.

Ayla is possibly named after a character in the book series "Clan of the Cave
+
Bear" by Jean M. Auel. The character is prehistoric but somewhat intelligent; she is a Cro-Magnon girl taken in by Neanderthals. She learns to hunt, and eventually becomes a great leader, but is exiled after a resentful man becomes chief.

A squire to Cyrus, the Knight-Captain to King Guardia XXI, Glenn always looked up to the older warrior as a mentor and "big brother" figure, as they had been close childhood friends -- Glenn had been picked on as a child. Though he was, in truth, the superior swordsman of the two, he always deferred to Sir Cyrus as the better man. When King Guardia sent Cyrus to the Denadoro Mts to recover the lost Hero Medal, Glenn happily accompanied him, and helped him to retrieve the mythical Masamune from its resting place atop the mountain peak. Prior to this, the two recovered the Badge of Courage from the Frog King

Unfortunately, the pair was attacked by Magus, then a powerful Dark wizard, and his cohort Ozzie. Cyrus was defeated; his last words to Glenn were to take care of Queen Leene, and then, tragically, he died in a burst of flames, disappearing completely in a matter of seconds before Glenn's horrified eyes. Glenn couldn't find the courage to follow Cyrus's example, and fled, but a mocking Ozzie goaded Magus into transforming Glenn into a huge, anthropomorphic frog. Frog established a forest abode in the Cursed Woods, and retained service to the Kingdom of Guardia; in the Lavos Timeline, Queen Leene was kidnapped and later rescued by Frog from the Cathedral. It is unknown what happened to Frog in this timeline afterwards, or whether he defended Zenan Bridge. In the Keystone Timelines, Frog assisted Crono and Lucca in their rescue of Queen Leene, and departed to the Cursed Woods. After Crono brought him the ressurrected Masamune, however, Frog joined the party for good. At the North Cape, Frog was offered a final chance to kill Magus in a duel, but declined, showing maturity.

Frog suffered from guilt most of his life in not being able to alter the death of Cyrus and failing in his mission, but this was resolved in part during the Cyrus's Ghost sidequestion. Frog was allowed to speak to Cyrus beyond the grave, who conferred spiritual power on the Masamune. It is unknown what became of Frog after the events of Chrono Trigger; the PSX version depicts him outright as returning to human form, while the SNES version suggests he remains a frog. He probably returned to Guardia and lived out his life peacefully, bequeathing the Masamune as an heirloom of Guardia.
