Chrono Crisis
This project was abandoned due to team member mutiny.
Chrono Crisis is a fan sequel being made with RPGMakerXP. With a development time of nearly five years under its belts, the team has decided to release the game in episodes to attract more help and talent. Episode I will be the first.
Crisis Team: Chrono Crisis is our answer to what may or may not have happened after Chrono Cross. Using various sources across the net, we are trying to keep the story as close to canon as possible, while still allowing ourselves to create and expand upon the Chrono universe. This is meant to be a final chapter - a culmination of the events portrayed in the games that we love. We're not claiming to be "the" sequel to Chrono Cross, but we fondly like to think that we may at least be able to provide some tentative answers to the larger questions in the series. This is a game purely for fans, by fans, and we will do our best to uphold the amazing story of the series.

Chrono Distortion
This project was abandoned due to inactivity.
Story: Ryan WMD, Zankrink, Talah Rama and FaFniR/Pyt Fumv
Maps: Ryan WMD, rushingwind and Talah Rama
Artwork: Aerithine
This game is basically about the fate of the Original Chrono Trigger Team, and it takes place 5 years after the original game. The story is still being written, and I am more busy concentrating on getting the Chrono Trigger Tilesets into RPG Maker XP. as well as making sprite sheets of the old CT Sprites for RPG Maker.
For music I'll probably use the old music from Chrono Trigger and Cross.
The way the game is played is that it will have a scenario system, at the start you choose whose story you want to play first, for example,
- Crono and Marle's Story - The War against Porre
- Magus' Story - The search for Schala
In this system, I want to include the ability to switch between Scenario's, for example, if there's a boss you can't beat in Glenn's Story, then you could switch to Schala's. Once all the scenarios are complete you can then complete the rest of the game's story.
Time Periods
- 64,999,995 BC -, - 11,995 BC -, - 605 AD -, - 1005 AD -, - 1505 AD -, - 2005 AD -, - 2305 AD -
Playable Characters
Crono, Marle, Lucca, Frog/Glenn, Robo, Ayla, Magus, Schala
More characters may be added
If anyone would be interested in helping, please PM me.
Also, if anyone knows how to make a battle system in RPG Maker system that's like Chrono Triggers, please tell me.
Chrono Neo
This project was abandoned via inactivity.
Chrono Neo was an effort to recreate Chrono Trigger within the Morrowind Engine led by SgtRama of Thasauce. Only the Millennial Fair was completed.
Chrono Origin
This project was abandoned due to inactivity.
From Nickolz:
Since some of those members were really willing for a fan sequel, they started their own group, Origin Makers, and their own projects, including a Chrono fan game made in RPG Maker XP. It's called Chrono Origin. There are some nice screenshots you should see, though.
From what they've told me, the game intends to be a link between CT and CC. If I'm not out of date, it will tell what happens after CT, focusing on what happened before. Something like "misteries and hidden secrets revealed", I guess.
If anyone wants to try it out, there is a demo version already. Click here to download. I've not played it yet (my PC is sooooo old), but I think it is pretty good, from what I've seen. Note that it's in portuguese too. Demo:

Chrono Prism
This project was abandoned via creator departure.
Ale of Valhalla's post:
I, like many others before me, have started a fan game. My game is called Chrono Prism, and it's being made using RPGMaker. It starts after Schala gets sucked into a vortex when the Red Knife is put into the Mammon Machine. She lands in (EDIT:)13,000 B.C., 1,000 years before her time. She goes on an adventure looking for her home time, meeting and helping and fighting many beings along the way. It all leads eventually to Schala's merge with Lavos into the Time Devourer, thus cueing Chrono Cross.
The game feaures so far: 5 unique time periods(Not including 12,000 B.C.), 6 playabale characters, one of which is optionally unlocked(a la Vincent of FFVII), various weapons, armor, helmets, accessories, and a new armor type called bracers, armor tabs to raise your defense, many cool techs, what I hope will end up to be an enjoyable and moving story, and, though you probably figured this out already, the inclusion of Schala. Here's a little teaser. It's the face sprites of three of the original characters. From left to right they are: Blind, Holly, and Iridion.
Chrono Shift
Chrono Shift is an old RPGMaker2000 game. Download the last completed demo here and the necessary runtimes here.
Chrono Stream
This project was abandoned via creator departure.
Chrono Stream is a new game done in RPGMaker in development that follows Crono and another party as they stumble into other dimensions while out on innocent errands.
Chrono Trigger 2
This project was abandoned via inactivity / creator departure.

From Nickolz:
I guess I can give some information about that, because actually I was one of the leaders on that project.
It started as a common fan project, with it's founder trying to gather interested people in orkut (orkut is a network similar to myspace, but with lots of brazilians everywhere you look). The aim was firstly to make a sequel to Chrono Trigger using RPG Maker 2003, but later we looked for better softwares. I believe our only (and greatest) problem was disorganization, since there were too many members in the project and we didn't have much experience.
We made some sketches for the story, most of which I wrote and organized myself. We prepared part of the maps and graphics we would use, as well as the project's website as you see. But we didn't really do much more than that. Some members gave up became quite busy, while others were too amateur or depended on the work of someone else to proceed. As time passed, even I decided to abandon the project. Most of us lost "burning passion", I guess. =/
I think there are still a few members trying to make, but I haven't heard much of them about it.
BUUUT, this story doesn't have such a sad ending. Since some of those members were really willing for a fan sequel, they started their own group, Origin Makers, and their own projects, including a Chrono fan game made in RPG Maker XP. It's called Chrono Origin.
Chrono Trigger Remake Project
This project was terminated by a cease-and-desist letter. The old description is preserved below.
Download CTRP Unfinished Business here. It's a collection of art and other materials released after the C&D order.
The Chrono Trigger Remake Project is a total conversion for Unreal Tournament 2004 based on the Square-Enix game, Chrono Trigger. We are working to achieve a fun remake true to the original game with a few cool revamped things (such as mini-games, side quests, new events, and a co-op mode). The Chrono Trigger Remake Project team intends to build up their experience with this task of remaking the original CT, while having fun recreating their favourite scenes, characters, and locations from the original game. This project is a just a tribute, and should be conisdered equal to any fanart or fanfiction already existent over the internet. In the future the Project might move to the next Unreal engine in order to have the best engine there is. If our experience lets us, we might even try to build an engine ourselves or use the Unreal Engine 2 Runtime and thus allow people who don't have Unreal Tournament 2004 to play this awesome game.
The Project's main objective is to totally recreate the feeling of the original game, in a way the old fans may remember how it was played the original deal back in 1995 while the new players enjoy the game with reworked graphics. That way it will be possible to select if the player wants to play the original work (in 3D of course) or the new mode with the added exras (mini-games, side quests and events). If time and our skills permit, a multiplayer mode will be added, where players can battle each other or play through the game with a companion. This Project isn't easy and shouldn't be taken lightly; we're serious, even if it takes 5 years or more to finish this project, we will work slowly, but we won't disregard our quality standards -- we will release soomething worthy of the Chrono Trigger name. The Project is a fan made tribute and doesn't intend to harm in any way the awesome Square Enix Chrono franchise; that way, you will be able to obtain the game free when it's released. If by any means we don't achieve our game quality standards, we won't release the game. Chrono Trigger is a masterpiece in its original format, and should not be disrespected in any way.
Any CT fan who thinks that might have somthing to contribute to the project can try to get in contact with us. Remember, we're always looking for help.
Requirements:
Any applicant should at least post/email etc. examples of his work, the CTR Project team will consider them and get in contact with the applicant. If any answer doesn't come up in the next days the applicant shouldn't worry; it's normal in these kind of fan projects that the team takes time to get all the teammates opinions. Remember, we have lives too. Every new applicant should agree to the NDA.
Currently needed most: Texturers, Character Modelers, Character Animators, Unreal Script Coders. Please apply here.
Chrono Trigger II: Brink of Time
This project was abandoned via inactivity.
Chrono Trigger II: Brink of Time is for any fan of the first chrono trigger. It will have a great story following up to after CT, not Chrono Cross. It is being made using RPG Maker 2k3. A new good story, with your favourite playable characters and some good mini games, will ensure leisure for any Chrono Trigger fan. New confirmed PC's will be Schala, and Johnny. Many new mini games are planned, and a whole new set of NPC's will be added with the older ones. CTII:BoT's story starts off in 1004, ad, where the ct gang celebrates their 3rd annual Lavos De-Fate Pary. Here the gang performs for the people and fun is all that is in their joyful life. Everything is perfect. Crono becomes king of guardia and marries Marle. Then..... something goes wrong. One after another, problems start to occur. Now, a new quest has been bestowed upon Crono and the gang. Plus, they will have new frineds to venture with, and all new sidequests. Future plans of having CTII BoT ported to ps1,ps2 or xbox have not been confirmed, but will be in consideration near the end of the project. The Computer version will be for Windows 95/98/200/ME/XP and will have FMV sequences similar to the playstation Chrono Trigger. All this and more awaits you at the Brink of Time. "Fate lies in the Brink of Time".
Chrono Trigger Resurrection
This project was terminated by a cease-and-desist letter.
http://www.opcoder.com/projects/chrono/
Chrono Trigger Resurrection was an effort to make ten 3D cinematic scenes depicting events of Chrono Trigger (though many fans with short attention spans thought the team intended to make a new game). The cease-and-desist letter really brought out the weirdos in the Chrono series fan community. Some fans even threatened to sue Square Enix for exercising their exclusive rights under international copyright law. Most, however, resorted to cursing the company out and starting futile petitions.
You can view a playthrough of the final, abandoned product by clicking here.
Here are some alpha version images not hosted on the official site which were posted here:
Here's other art produced for the project never before released:
This unreleased art was produced for Chrono Trigger Resurrection.
Chrono Trigger: Day of Thantos
This project was abandoned by SSJoseph, who pursued other projects.
http://chronotrigger-dt.cjb.net/
Chrono Trigger: Day of Thantos is an effort to create a Chrono game in 3D that takes place between Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross.
Throughout the ages, great warriors touched by destiny have journeyed across space, time and dimension to save the earth, all life, and even time itself. As one danger was replaced by another, new heroes came forth to meet the challenge. But there is an untold story in the Chrono saga. The heroes who had crossed time to defeat Lavos and save the future still had a part to play. In the tumultuous time between two dynasties, an ancient foe reached from beyond oblivion to enact is final vengeance, and a new, yet familiar enemy arose. From the hands of the daughter of magic, captive in a prison of shadow, destruction was sown anew. Faced with the ruination of the peace which they had created, the time travelers were thrust into the heat of battle once again. The flames of valor which had ended the tyranny of Lavos were rekindled once more, because not only the fate of the earth was at stake, but all existence. These were the events of Chrono Trigger 2: Day of Thantos.
Chrono Trigger: Threads of Time
This project was abandoned in lieu of developing Chrono Trigger: Time's Illusion.
Chrono Trigger: Threads of Time was ROM hacking project spearheaded by justin3009.
Kingdom Hearts: Inverted Hearts
This was a big Kingdom Hearts project apparently abandoned due to inactivity. It notably had a Guardia level.
Project Frozen Flame
This project was abandoned due to inactivity.
Project Frozen Flame is a reimplementation of the engine for the text adventure Radical Dreamers. The idea is to create an enhanced port that allows the game to be played on modern hardware with updated visuals and sound.
Radical Dreamers was the original sequel to the Super Nintendo RPG Chrono Trigger. It was released via the Satellaview add-on for the Super Nintendo in Japan in 1996, but never made it outside of Japan. Many ideas, characters and music were taken from Radical Dreamers and incorporated into Chrono Trigger's more official Playstation sequel Chrono Cross a few years later.
In 2003, Demiforce released a fan translation patch, allowing fans to play the game in english via emulation. In order to do this, the game's script was extracted and decompressed from the ROM, and the meaning of most of the op codes were discovered. It is on that work that this project is built on.
Radical Dreamers +
This project was abandoned due to inactivity.
Radical Dreamers + is a project by freakyfrankie to create a Radical Dreamers game in RPGMaker.
Unofficial Chrono Trigger II (Chrono Ideologues)
This project was abandoned due to inactivity.
Unofficial Chrono Trigger II is a project to recreate Chrono Trigger in 3D using a third-party engine.
The project began with a simple plot and relatively small ambitions. The creators planned to feature the original cast of Chrono Trigger in a new adventure using their 2.5D engine, rendering sprites in a very, very simple 3D world. Kylar, the first story specialist, came on board before 2002 and began making bold edits to the original outline, though keeping the overall aim a "play-it-safe" sequel to Chrono Trigger.
Kenji describes the plot: "The first scene of Kylar's plot was a festival, like the Millennial Fair, taking place in 1005 A.D. Crono and Marle live in Gina's house, in a sort of CBS-style idyllic domesticity, and they have a four-year-old child who would start to resemble Gohan really quickly. As the festival turned to night, monsters attacked... maybe or maybe not Porrean soldiers, and Crono and Marle would rush to the castle only to find the king dead. By some kind of gargoyle, I believe. Then they met a mysterious man from the future (who was their son, from the future) who beat them down and sent them to the Prehistoric Age, where they'd meet Ayla. Beyond that, there was something involving a tower that was set as a memorial to the Guardian Royal House in 2000, which would make the player realize something was afoot, probably leading to an attempt to interfere with the Fall of Guardia. That was as far as it went, that basic setup. Like I said before, Kylar didn't remember where I wanted to take it, implying that he had been off the project long enough to forget (unless he just had a terrible memory), and that's the springboard I used."
The team meanwhile released two demos, named Build 10 and 11, in 2002. These allowed players to exit Crono's house and fight a few battles in Guardia Forest. As that year went on, certain staff members fell away, including Kylar; Gangis replaced him with Kenji Moroboshi, the third or fourth writer to apply. Kenji had a few very brief chats with Kylar to confirm certain story points, and then began creating his own new directions and changes for the plot.
History
The project began with a simple plot and relatively small ambitions around 1997 or 1998. It was named "The Further Adventures of the Trucepatch Gang".

Kenji had a few very brief chats with Kylar to confirm certain story points, and then began creating his own new directions and changes for the plot. Sooperkreep meanwhile joined to create some fantastic official art for the characters. The team developed ambitious plans for a 3D engine with active-time battle, and released an image of the End of Time map to the Chrono Compendium showing their work. The End of Time map was the only one completed, with St. Theresa's Cathedral (where Crono and Marle got married) left unfinished; personnel began falling away again, leading Kenji to suggest a 2D system once more.
In 2008, Gangis closed down the site and passed the title of project manager to Kenji, who toyed with the idea of doing a novel, complete with themes of time travel-consequences.

The Forsaken Demesne
This project was abandoned via inactivity.
http://www.chronocompendium.com/Forums/viewtopic.php?t=610
The Forsaken Demesne is a planned modification to Chrono Trigger that will implement at huge dungeon, accessible through the Cursed Woods, that will function as a combat ladder. DivineDragoonKain is responsible for the project:
It will be a 40+ floor dungeon called the Forsaken Demesne, which will feature enemies in increasing power, from pathetic to Damn you Chickenlump! difficulties. I plan to do this by removing several areas from the game and rearranging them together(completely retiling many areas), as well as adding said enemies. Bosses will be frequent as well, and other things will burrow their way in as time passes.
The focus of this project is to breathe some fresh challenge (among other things) into CT.

Cyrus Resurrection Novel Project
This project was abandoned via creator departure.
Welcome to Cyrus Resurrection Novel Project. Our goal here is to fully write a novel on Cyrus's life from the Classic SNES game, "Chrono Trigger." Its hard to say if we will get this published but nevertheless we will try. If you would like to help, contact me at ctmuzicman@yahoo.com. You can also apply at this thread.
Project ZEAL

Chrono MUCK
This project shifted to a general RP and is no longer Chrono-centric.
http://community.livejournal.com/chronomuck/
It started simply, a text game based on the worlds of Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross. But, nothing ever goes according to plan. With no control over the direction of global events things soon took a turn for the worse. New villains and new surprises from every end of the time line began to appear and their actions brought with them unforeseen consequences. The world was destroyed...
Now, after a major rethinking and rebuilding, Chrono MUCK returns. The remains of the shattered timelines have fused various areas and times together. As the citizens of the world began to rebuild an ominous tower appeared, within it the cause of the destruction. Can the order of time be restored? Can this new threat be vanquished? Only the players can decide.
We welcome everyone with a desire for good role play to join us. With the merger of the timelines anyone can be applied for, and from any point in time. The setting gives a unique opportunity to re-write events and create entirely new scenarios. If you've ever written a short story before, you're more than experienced enough to enjoy what we have to offer. Join us, won't you? The fate of the world depends on it...
