The Geno Dome is a machine factory situated on an island in the southeast hemisphere of the 2300 A.D. world map. Home to the genius supercomputer Mother Brain, it was used to create robots and perhaps perform other technical duties. Robo was created here, as well as Atropos XR. After the Day of Lavos, Mother Brain became very unstable and arrived at the conclusion that killing all humans would encourage Lavos to stay behind on the planet and end his species' migration through the stars. To this end, Mother Brain brainwashed the robots at the dome and started abducting humans for euthanasia. During the Origin of Machines sidequest, Robo returned to the Geno Dome to find these horrors taking place, and confronted Atropos XR and Mother Brain. Atropos, after her defeat, revealed that she had been manipulated by Mother Brain and perished after giving Robo her ribbon. Mother Brain could not be rescued, however, and was destroyed by Robo and the party. This signaled the end of the Geno Dome's processing; it lay dormant until Lavos was defeated and the future was changed.

There is a trick here. Running to the end of the conveyor belt makes a crashing noise, which distracts the silver robot patrolling near the top of the screen. After the fanfare that robot will disappear, meaning you don't have to fight it with the laser guards on the east side of the screen. Thanks to FFCrono

Name Origin

Geno Dome stands for Genocide Dome, as evidenced in the Japanese version of the game.
