Crono's Drapes

Ummm... Just wondering... Does opening and closing Crono's drapes ever actually have an effect or do anything? I just find it weird that his curtains are a very rare interactive object that you can operate in ct, other than ones that are required to advance the game (ie. the crane in the factory in 2300 ad) I actually can't recall any other ones that are just there that don't advance the storyline. So does anyone know about this? What's the point to opening and closing the drapes? Could it be they made them interactive solely because Crono's mom opens them to help Crono wake up?

There's nothing special with it.  It isn't required for an object to be interactive to be used by NPCs.

Yeah no good for anything, it is a good point though.  Really seems to be one of the very few interactive things in the game.  Almost like they intended to do a lot of them for detail, then just didn't for whatever reason.

The only guess I can take is that Crono's room was probably the first area designed and coded for the game, and the managing staff probably wanted to set a precedent for their employees to follow, having high detail and interactivity...  Not to mention when you first fire up the game and you see that you can even interact with the freaking window (a crazy idea at the time), it gives you a cool feeling for how much interaction there will be throughout the game.  That's just my 2 cents though.

Yeah, that's probably it. Having Crono's mom alter the settings just like that probably gives players the sense they're in for something special.

Haha, when she asked if Crono's okay I wanted to shout in her face: "No, you good for nothing mother, he's dead! Way to treasure your children!"

And, I must agree with Jake, as well. When I first looked at CT, I was like: "Wow, that's pretty good graphics for SNES." It was one of the first 32 Bit games, so they wanted to show off the graphics. One of the developers in the ending says that "32 bit graphics makes the characters come to life."

Uhm...Wow, I thought you just misunderstood when you talked about CT being 32-bit in that thread before...Chrono Trigger, and everything SNES, was 16-bit. NES was 8-bit. N64 was obviously 64-bit. There was the Sega 32X which was 32-bit...and the PSX too was 32...the new systems now are 128-bit.

Uhm...Otherwise...At first I scoffed CT's graphics because I had just finished FFVI (FFIII on SNES) and thought it looked too different a style...Then I knew little about anything...I think CT is obviously some of the best SNES graphics, along w/probably Super Metroid and Star Ocean...and DKC of course.

Hey, I didn't know it was 32 Bit until that guy in the programmer ending said so. Let's see if I could get the quote...

Quote
Yasuhiko Kamata: Isn't 32 megs great?
   The graphics become incredible. It
was painful at times, but it sure was
   fun!

Oh, bah, it's 32 megs, not bit... Well, you were right, Translanka! ^_^

Would you consider the cupboard in Medina an interactive object?

Hmm. You could, but that actually has a function. ^^'

That's what I'm saying.  I guess its somehwat objective.  You can only open it, but it is an object, and you CAN interact with it... but only one-way.  But is it considered one if it's really just a portal?  I think if we ever get an interview with Kato, this should be one of the questions we ask him.  Seems like a good use of a question.

Ah, but why just a portal? Aren't portals interactive objects as well?
