RW, the feeling of the world unfolding before you -- if I'm reading your post right -- is pretty unbeatable!

I'm glad you're finding fulfillment in the world.

Ah! A friend and I just played through that game again a few days ago. One of the real classics! I end up replaying it every few years or so...and nothing much compares with that moment when you are drawn into the Dark World. Except maybe that moment when the door to the Triforce Chamber opens.

To parallel in brighter light my hatred in the Hate thread, there is nothing so uniquely satisfying and empowering as being able to converse with people who are scientifically literate. The conversations which arise, the ideas and the proposals...it's delicious. It's something that I crave, and I have never long kept a friend who did not maintain a fixture of science in the realm of their psyche.

I have the rather philosophically conventional but popularly uncommon view that human cognitive intelligence builds outward from the core layers which concern the natural sciences and their mathematical manipulation. In other words, if you learn about subjects in physics, chemistry, biology, meteorology, seismology, astronomy...and develop the basic mathematical fluency to apply and manipulate your understanding...if you do this, then all the rest falls into place. The arts and humanities must follow scientific literacy. They cannot precede it. But if you move in the right order, from physics, to chemistry, to biology, to psychology, to sociology, to music...you will truly know your place in the universe, and that is a powerful and liberating thing to know.

I meet people like that from time to time, and am delighted by them. Some of you are people like that, and I suppose that's why I still hang around this place. Such individuals are humanity's most redeeming quality. It is a treasure to know them and an honor to walk among them. I love it.

The second love for today is perhaps a bit of a bit unexpected for others to read. It's Faustwolf. I am quite envious of his insights, affability, and infectious passion. It just seemed like such a fine fellow needs to occasionally be praised.

It seemed like an appropriate time to quote myself on this topic. Faust, you're the best of us!

Hah, I wasn't even around the first time you said that Thought, thanks. I'm just glad I can still put myself to some use around here, and this makes me feel all the more anguished for having so much difficulty engaging with you all consistently over the past half year. I can't count the number of ways I've benefited from you guys too -- if anything, I'm indebted to the community for making me the person I am today. There's no way I'd have the same dreams, attitudes and passions I do today had I not stumbled into the Compendium, and I am very much at peace with those parts of myself. I guess I'll make that the thing that I love right now!

Now, just gotta make it all happen...that, and contribute my fair share to some of those fan projects we started, ehehehe.

Ah.>AHHAAAAHHAHAHAH

Wonderful, until the sheer reality of it sinks in, and the awareness that I fall into the category that man's in. At least I know someone at theonion is after my own heart. Another good person in the world.

Just got back from my trip. Saw a lotta stuff in the last hours that most people wouldn't see in days, and all thanks to the extrovertive Godmother (did I mention she's got the same smile as Saj does?) of mine, who likes to dump the household responsibility onto her husband and son just so she and her daughter can go travelling. When she's around, you have no choice but to have a heck-load of fun in the next 24 hours. And we love it!

I was inspired to write something about sexual equality development too, one of the points based on my observations, and stating a tale of a tea seller who pays for his daughter's education by selling tea (the guy's homeless and illiterate, but wants his daughter to forge her own destiny), and one about the small-scale business woman trying to aid her sick husband. Halfway through writing, unfortunately, with the past events in mind, I was discouraged to continue -- and hence deleted every info I wanted to share. It's no longer worth it. (No offense)

I've also decided that I quit talking about controversial stuff, especially sexism, psycho-analyses, social reform and religion, in entirety or even propose ideas here, so continue discussing without me. For me, that's a good news because I get the opportunity to actually take action in social circumstances and making a change rather than... well yeah. I'm sorry, but I'd rather someone in need would benefit instead. And if no one supports me then I'll simply do it alone.

I'm the dreamer who hates waiting for dreams to come true on their own. Although, I'll keep benefiting with the discussion that goes around here.  8)

Tried to sleep, didn't work. Instead I came across this gem:

Hmm, the board doesn't lemme post the video alone. Fine, I'll say this: I'd love a strong, independent woman who can kick my ass.

I love spending time with my crazy goddamn family. When we get together we converse in high Mexican style: everyone is animated and loud and, though engaged in what others are saying, everyone talks over each other in their enthusiasm. An intellectual discussion can turn utterly silly in an instant; a loud argument will end abruptly with laughter and hugs; serious, dark matters are addressed soberly and made bearable by wine and company.

For all the problems we've had with each other over the years, for all of our personal struggles and despairs, and for all the things that I can't share with my family, we love each other, and we will hold on to each other. That's the most that could ever be said for a family.

1. I finished up a truckload of work just in time for the holiday.

2. Thanksgiving was awesome.

3. The Ocarina of Time is holding up surprisingly well. I haven't played through this game in over a decade. It's an important one to me, so I'm thrilled that it has aged well.

Curiosity is successfully en route to Mars. Its pending landing there will be one of the most difficult and risky ever attempted, and this probe was a huge slice of NASA's budget. The rover is nuclear-powered, so if it lands the odds are promising that it will serve for over a decade.
