I could certainly accept that, though I'd put more of a "changeling" spin on it -- Sprigg, for example, could be thought of as female even when she shapeshifts into a masculine form. The physical form changes, but the psyche remains constant. And seeing as Flea has illustrated shapeshifting abilities, I'd hypothesize that he belongs to the same race as Sprigg, and possibly murdered for the body he now possesses.
...Although that doesn't explain the "Flea Vest." I'm a bit put off by that whole deal.
