Anyone Interested in a Compendium Card Group?
« on: August 29, 2009, 01:18:36 am »
I enjoy card games like hold 'em poker, big two, hearts, and crazy eights, but I don't get the chance to play very often. So, question: Is there enough interest here in the community for us to put together a card group and play from time to time? Say, once or twice a week?

What platform would we be playing on? I suck at cards, but to get as close as possible to my international debonair gentleman archetype, it'd serve me well to get some experience.

Oh, I see. You're trying to put one of these together:

Oh me me! I love card games! I don't know how to play poker, but I guess I can learn. Lately, I have been playing yahoo gin a lot. I have tried to play hearts and I don't really remember that one very well either. So out of all the games you mentioned, I only know how to play crazy 8s, but I'm down for anything : D

I take it this would be done over the internet?  Or is this just for the Seattle crowd?

What about TCGs? If it's a Seattle thing, I've got Magic the Gathering and Pokemon :D
Although, I haven't got a new booster pack for either in ages and haven't actually played in forever...

I was thinking online; that way everyone who is interested can participate.

@ ZeaLitY: I don't know what platform we'd use; I'm open to suggestions.

@ Zephira: I was thinking about traditional, "playing card" card games, like the ones I mentioned above (but not limited to those).

Hmm, when I saw the title I thought you were talking about making about a Chrono card game. >_>
BTW, never play poker in real life...

We wouldn't be playing for money; just for fun.

Is anyone experienced with Yahoo's games enough to know if they allow multiplayer poker, and how many people can play in one game?

Undoubtedly, I'll check on this myself in a few hours unless someone beats me to it...

I'm am interested, no doubt about that.  I was raised by card sharks, however the only game we regularly got into was pinochle.  A good pinochle game, for us, was one which involved cheating, beer, and arguments about the cheating under the influence of beer.

Granted, online platforms don't allow for cheating, and the preferred tone here seems to be a little more civil.    I am still quite interested, but my participation is going to depend minimally on the platform, and mostly on the time since I keep a pretty bizarre sleep schedule.

For "Hold 'em Poker" it's up to 10 players. I'm not sure if that's the type people want to play. I believe it's the only type of poker that is free on yahoo games.

There are many paths to get that image, I prefer the Ballroom.

I haven't every played cards over the internet at all, but I am always up for a game normally. Money or not.

I summon Dalton in attack-mode~!! Er, wait...not those types of card games? I'd prefer a game of Scrabble, myself, but if this can get set-up, I'll play though I don't really know all of the various poker rules...nor gin...Uh...I know blackjack! I wonder how online Slapjack would work...probably end up in a lot of broken monitors...

Regular card game would be... "Ok",.. I guess.
But a TCG, would be awesome!

Especially if we could MAKE OUR OWN TCG.

ooooooooh cards.  :D
im not a pokerplayer. i play a mean game of war and gold fish though!

if we could make our own tcg and play online that would be great. so long as the rules arent too complicated. id love to have a game that was like pokemon cards. just plain and simple.
